Alynn-Mags 'Live Outside' Mural Interview, Video and Print release

Last week Juxtapoz Magazine released an interview with Alynn-Mags about their recent collaboration with JanSport, a 3-story, huge mural in downtown SanFrancisco.  In the interview, Juxtapoz said: "Public art makes cities better...Amanda Lynn and Lady Mags planned, plotted, and painted one of the biggest murals in SF..."

Just a few days ago, JanSport released all eleven episodes documenting our progress: from the idea stage, to getting the wall at Civic Center Holiday Inn, through the trials and tribulations of painting something so huge, so fast (5 days) in the middle of the rainy season.  The final episode shows our happiness and relief at the unveiling mural party. We are very grateful for this opportunity to create, inspire, and exhibit our work in one of our most favorite cities - SF!

In honor of this incredible opportunity, we are releasing prints of the final 'Live Outside' mural. Two detail images and one of the full mural.

New Docmentary on Alynn-Mags

Early this year Lady Mags and I, aka. Alynn-Mags , were approached by Fallout Pictures with interest in doing a documentary film on our mural production process. They came out and filmed each of us individually in our separate studios, then stood by filming for two days while we created a new piece. It's a beautiful documentary, that definitely captures the Alynn-Mags connection!

'Big Things' mural by Alynn-Mags

Alynn-Mags have a thing for Bugs.  This summer we started a series of walls generously supported by our IronLak friends and family.  Our first piece tested out our watercolor meets mural on a wall in SF near Dolores Park. After that successful piece, Alynn-Mags decided to head to Oakland....

This wall is 4 times the size: the length of a parking lot and two stories high.  We kept with the watercolor-meets-bug theme and added some extra flare.
AmandaLynn was inspired by a photo taken by Erin Ashford, evoking the spirit of a happy hottie, dressed it to impress, kickin back, and enjoying the wind.

And Mags came through with a giant piece the color of water to cool her off.

The background is based off some of Alynn-Mags fine art watercolor collaborations. This was a big, hot project....But it was well worth it.
More to come!
Enjoy!

Today Alynn-Mags (Amandalynn and Lady Mags) release their limited edition print run of 'Elegance'. The original artwork was painted as a collaboration for their show at Known Gallery this past January. This is one of the duo's most popular images, and truly shows the natural flow that happens between these two artist's different styles and techniques.

Alynn-Mags Fine Art

Alynn-Mags Fine Art

Alynn-Mags , consisting of Amandalynn and Lady Mags, are recognized for their street art compilations. However, they have started experimenting in a new realm of art, combining their fine art talents, and creating a whole new look for the artistic duo. Amandalynn is normally noted for her alluring female illustrations and fine art paintings, while Lady Mags' fine art tends to be more abstract, relying on color and shape to depict her intentions. These two new pieces are an exciting new step for both Amandalynn and Lady Mags, and they are excited on creating a series of similar work.

Cats and Collaborations: Alynn-Mags, Lea Bruno, UPSF-- Collaborations update

Recently, AmandaLynn and Lady Mags were invited to participate in San Francisco's Urban Protoype Festival.  Architects and young designers were showing their new ideas amidst graffiti artists, musicians, and tasty food stands.  Amanda and Mags decided to collaborate on a canvas with a cat theme, homage to Amanda's late awesome black cat : Morgana.

We were fortunate to paint next to
Apex, Agana, and Jan Swayze.

The incredibly talented
Nicholas Lea Bruno also complete a B and W photo series of Lady Mags and AmandaLynn during our anniversary wall (featured HERE on IronLak Blog).

Glow, Erin Yoshi, Amanda Lynn, Lady Mags: Updates, stories, interviews, book covers and more

It has been another busy month for the Alynn-Mags team: Amanda Lynn partnered up with GLOW to paint a beautiful truck for her friend Stella's birthday. Erin Yoshi invited us to show work at the Dunk The Junk show, which featured some work from Lady Mags, Erin herself, Amanda Lynn, Glow and Agana. In the midst of all this Amanda Lynn gave an excellent interview for Street Art SF that featured her work, as well as the most recent productions by Alynn-Mags. This Same Month Lady Mags designed a book cover for a new series. Also, BIG news: Alynn-Mags had their anniversary of the first wall they ever painted together. The Anniversary wall is featured here, but was also supported by IRONLAK, and they gave us love on their blog too. What is in store next month? Alynn-Mags have a few collaborations coming up, 2 new walls and who knows what more might be in store!!!
