Alynn-Mags 'Live Outside' Mural Interview, Video and Print release

Last week Juxtapoz Magazine released an interview with Alynn-Mags about their recent collaboration with JanSport, a 3-story, huge mural in downtown SanFrancisco.  In the interview, Juxtapoz said: "Public art makes cities better...Amanda Lynn and Lady Mags planned, plotted, and painted one of the biggest murals in SF..."

Just a few days ago, JanSport released all eleven episodes documenting our progress: from the idea stage, to getting the wall at Civic Center Holiday Inn, through the trials and tribulations of painting something so huge, so fast (5 days) in the middle of the rainy season.  The final episode shows our happiness and relief at the unveiling mural party. We are very grateful for this opportunity to create, inspire, and exhibit our work in one of our most favorite cities - SF!

In honor of this incredible opportunity, we are releasing prints of the final 'Live Outside' mural. Two detail images and one of the full mural.

Live Outside JanSport Videos

This past February,  Alynn-Mags teamed up with JanSport, to create the duo's largest mural production yet. Amandalynn and Lady Mags were approached with the opportunity to create a mural production with any design they wanted and pretty much any location they desired.....

Love Shack Commission

This January, Amanda Lynn and Lady Mags got lucky.  We collaborated with a wonderful couple who were remodeling and designing a stunning getaway retreat in Palm Springs, Ca.  They commissioned us to paint a graffiti mural in their "casita", or side house, with the theme and style of the B52s song, 'Love Shack'.

We collaborated on the design for a few weeks, and received great feed back and ideas from the clients. They encouraged us to create a true Alynn-Mags style piece, making the imagery have a style all our own.

Once arriving to the construction site, we were thrilled! The entire house was decorated and designed with one of a kind artwork, furniture, and build outs, specifically commissioned for this site, topped off with an infinity pool overlooking Palm Valley.

After completing the project, Alynn-Mags were invited back in mid February for an unveiling celebration. The home was part of the Modernism Week Architecture tour, followed up by a classy Cast party, honoring all who participated in creating this Architectural masterpiece.  Needless to say, it was an amazing experience all around and we are very honored to have been a part of it.

New Docmentary on Alynn-Mags

Early this year Lady Mags and I, aka. Alynn-Mags , were approached by Fallout Pictures with interest in doing a documentary film on our mural production process. They came out and filmed each of us individually in our separate studios, then stood by filming for two days while we created a new piece. It's a beautiful documentary, that definitely captures the Alynn-Mags connection!

'Big Things' mural by Alynn-Mags

Alynn-Mags have a thing for Bugs.  This summer we started a series of walls generously supported by our IronLak friends and family.  Our first piece tested out our watercolor meets mural on a wall in SF near Dolores Park. After that successful piece, Alynn-Mags decided to head to Oakland....

This wall is 4 times the size: the length of a parking lot and two stories high.  We kept with the watercolor-meets-bug theme and added some extra flare.
AmandaLynn was inspired by a photo taken by Erin Ashford, evoking the spirit of a happy hottie, dressed it to impress, kickin back, and enjoying the wind.

And Mags came through with a giant piece the color of water to cool her off.

The background is based off some of Alynn-Mags fine art watercolor collaborations. This was a big, hot project....But it was well worth it.
More to come!
Enjoy!

Alynn Mags in the tunnels: first pieces of 2013

2013 is starting off well.  Alynn-Mags finished a mural production in Oakland at a bus stop off of 2nd Ave. The duo were fortunate to be accompanied by the very talented, Lindsey Millikan, aka. Milli.  The three of them completed a new years mural in no time.
A week later, Lady Mags took Amandalynn (ALynn) down to the tunnels for Amanda's first spray piece.  She killed it! Mags sketched out some 'ALynn' letters, but Amandalynn filled and outlined herself.  Amazing work for a first time, the duo is getting stronger each day.  But the experience was not without some obstacles... Climbing into the creek proved to be a crisis, as the water was much higher than Mags remembered.  As soon as the ladies hopped in, water poured into their boots, freezing their feet. After hiking half a mile in a pitch black tunnel the two of them spent the rest of the time in waterlogged socks, pants, and boots.... makings of a very chilly experience, but all worth it in the end!  Here are a few pictures from their adventures.
